Leading plastic surgeon launches new gender affirming surgery practice

Leading plastic surgeon, Dr Giuseppe Di Taranto, has announced the launch of GDT Gender Surgery, a new independent clinic specialising in gender affirming top surgery and breast augmentation for trans masculine and trans feminine individuals. 

The service, which is based out of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the Cadogan Clinic in London, offers a range of procedures for those looking to access gender affirming surgery as part of their transition. 

Dr Di Taranto explained: “My interest in this specialist field of medicine began in 2017 when I met my first non-binary patient. I found that my skills as a plastic surgeon were particularly well-suited to this specialism. 

“As gender affirming healthcare is not part of the medical curriculum, I set about learning all I could from some of the most experienced surgeons working in the field including Dr Nemchard Sithpaul from Thailand and Professor Djordjevic from Belgrade.

“Seven years on and I am a core part of the NHS team committed to establishing a national centre of excellence for feminising and masculinising surgery at the prestigious Chelsea and Westminster hospital in central London.

“Alongside this important work, I am also launching my independent practice – GDT Gender Surgery – through which my aim is to provide access to high quality care to those who prefer not to wait.

“This area of medicine is incredibly rewarding and I am excited to be able to continue not only my own learning, but to be able to play a part in educating others in my field to be better able to serve the community.”
